How it builds an answer
How Claude decides who to name.
Without search, Claude answers from its training data. With web search, it runs searches, reads the results and cites the pages it used. Claude is often given a shortlist and asked to compare, so you need to be found, and your pages need to state the facts a comparison runs on: services, sectors, credentials and locations.

Calculated per query, for you and every competitor in the set, so Claude can be compared with every other platform.
Share of voice
Your mentions as a proportion of all mentions across the competitor set, for the same queries.

The proportion of the query set, from problem to selection, in which you are named at least once.

Citation coverage
Of the sources the answers cite, the proportion that mention you. AI systems repeat what their sources say.

How closely your best passage matches the query, scored with our own embedding model, against the best competing passage. A negative margin usually explains why you were left out.

Common questions
Which Anthropic crawlers matter?
ClaudeBot collects training data, Claude-SearchBot indexes pages for search, and Claude-User fetches pages when a user asks. Blocking Claude-SearchBot reduces how often your pages can appear in Claude's search answers.
Why does it matter how Claude compares suppliers?
It can only compare on facts it can find. A firm whose credentials and specialisms are stated explicitly gets credit for them. One that leaves them implicit is compared on what others say about it.
Can you guarantee Claude will recommend us?
No. Nobody controls what an AI system generates. We measure how often you are named, change what moves that, and measure again.
